On May 3rd, 2011 was the regional leg for the the Redbull Thre3style battle in Washington D.C. The battle featured 9 total DJ's this time, the Brooklyn Thre3style winner, another guy from New York, the Boston Thre3style Winner, myself, and 5 guys from D.C. (I know right?!) Despite some serious flaws in the execution of the event itself I had an absolute blast on the trip and in the battle. DJ Get Live won first place and believe me he totally deserved it, that dude can rip!The number of Pittsburgh supporters totaled over 40 people, and I commenced my set with a Renegade/Black & Yellow routine that had our people going nuts with terrible towels and Pittsburgh pride. It was VERY cool. I really can't thank everyone enough for coming down and for the support, there's just too damn many of you to list but please know just how much it meant to me. Here's some pics and a short recap...Meet Shaquita! This baby fit 10 of us, took 30 gallons of gas, and contained enough candy, lunch meat, and soda to fulfill a 3rd grade classroom. She got us there safe and sound and we had a hilarious time road tripping with her.
When we got to D.C. we grabbed lunch a place called Firehouse (guess what it used to be). Food was decent, the time spent was better, Ben's cold shoulder to the waitress was the best.
After lunch we hit Joe's Record store. Really awesome spot, great selection, very unique. First thing dude says at the register when I told him I was from Pittsburgh was, "You ever been to Jerry's" I smiled and told him "Yeah, once or twice" I think he got my drift.
After a short dig, we hit our hotels for a little. Shouts to the Donovan house for the super awesome room!

I specifically brought my man Jordan Beckham with me to do photos and video work, however the people at the venue informed me that there was no photography allowed. Unfortunately I had Jordan take one picture at the end and they kicked his ass out right after hahaha.
The next day we hit the town for some sight seeing and grub before departing. Here's a few pics from that day.

After the battle my friends and D.C. based DJ's DJ Trayze & Jerome Baker III invited us to their weekly Tuesday party called Recess. It was such a dope party and I must say D.C. parties harder on a Tuesday than most Pittsburgh spots on a Saturday. Thanks again to everyone that came down, it was so much fun!
Here it is! It's not perfect (I loaded the wrong song after the Rage) but I made it work. Thanks again to Antuks for the video work. Watch in HD if your internet connection doesn't suck.
As most of you know on April 7th I competed in the Pittsburgh leg of the worldwide Red Bull Thre3style DJ battle. I'm happy to announce that I came out on top with a first place win!Let me start by saying this: I could have never of done it without the overwhelming support I had from friends, family, and just good people alike. Arguably, my greatest advantage was my crowd control and support and I want everyone to know how much that means to me. I feel that my song selection was very energetic and unique, and I was thrilled to see everyone getting so into it. There were some very impressive sets put down by the other 7 DJs and it was in no way a landslide victory. Shouts to all the DJs who competed especially DJ Zimmie and DJ Midas (who had my personal favorite set of the night) for taking 2nd and 3rd place. When I first started DJing it would have been impossible to ever imagine a night like this could be in store for me. I was nervous out of my mind, but the second I got behind the decks my nerves transformed into pure adrenaline and I don't know that I have EVER been so pumped up before for a gig. It was awesome seeing the crowd react the way that they did. And I must say that hearing my name called as the winner was one of the greatest moments in my life. It was very emotional for me and a night I will never forget. There's literally so many people to thank, I did my best to let them all know. I must give a special thanks to DJ Firm who landed me my first DJ gig ever and taught me all the the fundamentals of this craft. DJ B-Wood & DJ McFly for listening to me for hours the nights before the battle (and many other times), all my Pirate City crew who never fails to show love, Jordan & Jeff for the video and photos, Tony who was watching over me that night and of course my wonderful girlfriend Jenna who continues to support me and was front row cheering me on. I love you.
The next round is to compete for the entire East Coast and will be held on Tuesday May 3rd at the U Street Music Hall in Washington DC. Get a hold of me or Firm if you are interested in coming out, it would mean the world to me and is a great way to support Pittsburgh!
